This week, Billboard’s New Music Latin roundup and playlist — curated by Billboard Latin and Billboard Español editors — features fresh new music, including new albums by Jay Wheeler (Girasoles) and Guaynaa (Cumbia y Amor).
Following his Broadway debut last fall and on the heels of his performance at Viña del Mar earlier this month, Sebastian Yatra dropped “La Pelirroja,” a country-bluegrass-tinged pop track about a special lady. “It’s one of those songs you put on and it sets the soundtrack to your life,” the Colombian artist previously told Billboard. “It’s one of those songs you literally play and you feel like your life is flashing before your eyes. The redhead represents that person we’ve all had in life, the one we like, but she’s with someone else.”
Meanwhile, Ozuna — who recently stopped by the Billboard headquarters in New York to present his latest project — released “La Nena,” the first single and video off his upcoming album, Who I Am. Fueled by infectious melodies and a smooth production, the Puerto Rican star sings about conquering an attractive woman who’s the object of his desire.
Jay Wheeler, on the other hand, delivered an entire album that’s representative of his new era both professionally and personally. Girasoles (“Sunflowers”) is home to 15 tracks that best put in perspective the Puerto Rican artist’s evolution including challenges that transform into maturity and life lessons. The synth-pop-heavy set is an ode to the three special ladies in his life: his mom, wife and daughter.
Other new releases this week include Danny Ocean and Sech’s “Priti,” Los Ángeles Azules and Kenis Os’ “Una Nada Más,” among others. Which release this week do you think is best? Give these new releases a spin and vote for your favorite new Latin music release below.
