I’ve tried dozens of lip products. These are the only 3 I’d buy again for fall and winter.

The Phyto-Glow lip balms from Naturium.

  • I’ve tried dozens of lip products over the years, from lip balms to glosses.
  • There are three that I swear by to keep my lips moisturized, especially in the fall and winter.
  • They each cost less than $25 from Laneige, Naturium, and Rare Beauty.

Everyone knows someone who carries at least five lip products in their purse at all times.

To my friends and family, I’m that person.

Lip products are a staple of my beauty routine. I’ve lost count of the lipsticks, glosses, and balms I’ve tried over the years.

That said, a few stand out to me from the rest, especially as cold weather moves in. These are the three items I swear by to keep chapped lips at bay and get me through fall and winter.

I can’t go to sleep without the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

For the past three years, I’ve been loyal to the $24 Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in the scent Sweet Candy. I can’t remember experiencing chapped lips once during that time.

The mask is thick but not uncomfortably heavy. Similarly, its scent is sweet but not overpowering.

I typically apply it before bed so I wake up feeling like I’d just applied lip balm. That said, I also like to wear it on harsh weather days in the fall and winter months.

I’ve found that with one swipe before I step outside, this product shields my lips from the damage that strong winds and frigid cold temperatures can bring.

If I need a quick fix, I reach for a tube from Naturium

Of course, there are plenty of times I forget to apply the Laneige mask before leaving the house.

Having a $10 Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm in my bag always saves the day.

The product is sold in 13 shades, each with a different scent. I’m personally a fan of the watermelon option, as its light pink color is neutral against my skin tone and works with any other makeup I’m wearing.

Most importantly, though, I’ve found that the balm moisturizes my lips instantly and keeps them soft for hours without needing to constantly reapply.

I wear a glossy balm from Rare Beauty almost daily

If I’m being really honest, there are many (if not more) days when I prioritize my makeup over the needs of my skin. If I’m wearing eyeliner, blush, and other products, I want a colorful lip product to go with it.

So I’ve added Rare Beauty’s $20 Stay Vulnerable Glossy Lip Balm in the shade Nearly Neutral to my makeup rotation.

I love the product because it’s soft — not sticky — and moisturizes my lips while adding the color I’d look for in a lipstick or traditional gloss.

It works so well for me that I did something I previously thought was impossible: cleared the tube until there was no gloss left.

Now I’m considering buying a small stockpile to keep on hand just in case.
